Gail's professional career began with a progressive rural, ninety (90) bed Acute Care hospital. Her responsibilities included all aspects of patient care as well as charge nurse position. She entered home care in 1985 as a staff nurse. Gail's clinical and management background continued to broaden as she progressed. From 1988 to 1993 she was assigned as Corporate Director of Patient Services with Sta-home Health Agency where she was initially responsible for 4 units covering a 5 county area. As the need arose, another unit was developed to enhance the attributes of rural health care. From 1993 to 1996, Gail functioned as Administrator for Sta-home's introduction into Hospice. From there, she broadened her expertise into start ups for other Hospices and eventually became a stock holder of a Hospice. Gail broadened her nursing abilities initially into the long term care arena with Attala County Nursing Center, then to Mississippi State Veterans Home as a prn RN Supervisor.
Gail's experience includes development of policies and procedures, preparation for licensure, quality management, and certification and staffing in the acute care setting, home health, hospice, and long term care.
Gail has been the Director of Nursing at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko since December 21, 2007. Since being the Director of Nurses at our home, Gail has been proactive in building a professional and caring nursing team. Gail believes that as nurses we should be willing to give of ourselves to those who have given so much for us and our country. Gail's desire to care for people and enter the nursing profession is directly contributed to her mother, who is a Registered Nurse.
